Protoasties
Welcome to Protoasties

ProToasties is an advanced Toastmaster club whose members are either (1) professional speakers (2) wannabe speakers, or (3) Toastmasters and others who have had considerable speaking experience.  We were started by members of the Northern California chapter of the National Speakers Association and by experienced members of Toastmasters.

We are considered an advanced Toastmaster club because our members have either earned their Competent Communicator award ("CC" involves completing the first Toastmaster manual of 10 speeches) and/or have opportunities to speak professionally, at work, or in the community.  The average speech time runs between 10 to 15 minutes, although some can go as long as 25 minutes.

Our club does NOT spend a great deal of time developing an inexperienced speaker like many of the regular Toastmasters club do.  Hence, ProToasties is a second Toastmasters club to many of the current members.

Full audio/visual capability. To enhance the professional speaking experience,  individuals are asked to use a microphone when giving a presentation.  Speakers have a choice of a hand-held or lavalier mic. When requested, the speaker's talk can be recorded onto a DVD for viewing at home.  Charge for the DVD is $2.00

A variety of feedback.  Each speaker has a formal evaluator who provides detailed feedback.  Others can offer comments from the floor.  In addition, everyone gets brief evaluation forms that they can use to pass along their comments to the speaker.  We consider the thoroughness and quality of the feedback one of the real assets of belonging to Protoasties.

Meeting place and time.  We meet for dinner at the
Trapeze in Burlingame, 266 Lorton Ave.,
Burlingame, CA. 94010.
Meetings are the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month.  Although we officially start at 7:00 p.m., many members arrive early, typically around 6:45 p.m., to order dinner or a light meal ahead of time.  We meet in the back room. The link to the restaurant is http://www.trapezerestaurant.com/

If you have already demonstrated your proficiency for public speaking and want to get even better, we may be the club for you.

Visitors are welcome.  Please join us at one of our meetings and experience the energy and excitement of Protoasties.
